Re: Southeastern Boat Builders Meet 2016

St. George Island is an awesome place. There are backwater areas for the smaller boats and not too far from some offshore fishing.

Re: FS13 - Bootje

Scott the PVC dowels help keep the panel edges aligned. This is my first build and everyone recommends using them, so I did. Taken from BayportBob's FS18 Blog "The other huge benefit of the dowels is that they help not only align the strips (edges), but also evened out the adjacent edges and gr...

Re: FS13 - Bootje

Yeah she is a biggun Dougster! I like the look that some production boats have rather than the arc JMM uses. Do remember the side panels are only about 9" tall! So the additional 8" for the outboard makes it look rather humongous! I cut the drain from the start.... had not even given thoug...

Re: Sure is quiet around here...

We are trying not to float away in the rains or sink in the mud down here in the Bayou City! The weather has been absolutely nuts, heck my Eggplant is still flowering, lettuce bolted to seed, Bhut Jolokia aka Ghost Pepper is still producing and so are the tomatoes... in DECEMBER! It's been in the up...

Re: FS13 - Bootje

Got a little more done this weekend. Weather has been weird around here, in the 70's last week, dropped with a rainy front this weekend and will be back to nearly 70 this week. Eh, I can't complain since I hate cold weather without snow. http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e76/OuCns/FS13/121315%20Stro...

Re: FS13

Looks good Dougster! You've nearly got me beat

How difficult were the bottom panels up at the bow to join? Mine are pretty stiff but I have not played with them too much yet.

Re: FS13 - Bootje

How do you pronounce 'bootje'? Is it "boot-jay"? or "booge"? or something else? My brain insists on stopping to ponder this each time I cross this thread. Wife says it is "boo" - "che" I'll have to ask the Oma at Christmas for an official pronunciation. I hav...

Re: FS13 - Bootje

Got to work on the boat a bit more this past week. I spent about 1 hour Tuesday night and 2-1/2 hours last night (Sunday) getting more work done. Tuesday was a day for joining panels and gluing the transom. I used 6oz biax tape, yes way overkill and not what JM spec'd, but I HATE woven fabric. Anyho...
