Smart Tabs

I'm glad to hear Smart Tabs are a good product. FishLa, how'd those home-made ones work?

Smart Tabs

Tiller extensions work. But there are a couple advantages to tabs: I got a little better speed with tabs than with putting my weight forward (not sure why, I just did). The ride is a little better further back. I had more confidence in turns seated at the rear than in the middle. Also, I didn't put ...

Trim tabs

There was a question how to do this -- I didn't keep pics, but it's simple. For two tabs: Cut 5 8x8 inch squares of ΒΌ inch ply. Cut 1 of those 8x8 pieces diagonally to make two triangles, I cut a 2 inch circle in the middle of the triangle for looks. Put the triangles in the middle of the squares to...

Smart Tabs

I built my own non-adjustable trim tabs out of 1/4" ply and they worked fine on a similar boat . Tabs don't ride down so far that they inhibit poling, but they do make backing up or poling backwards a little squirrely. They completely solved the weight distribution problem, though. $100 sounds ...

OK, I was just confused by the second paragraph -- now I understand you were mainly talking about using a jig, not so much which way the hull is flipped. Got it.

Sorry about the cross-post.

Question on building SC16

The instructions are ambiguous. Should this boat be stitched together upside down or right-side up?

Thanks!

It's a Swift Canoe -- that new design similar to a Gheenoe.

Folks around here overpower Gheenoes (25 hp on a 16' canoe, yeah!) so I'm wondering if Jacques didn't take that into consideration on the 1 1/2" thick transom and 12 oz glass inside and out.

SC 16 Upside down or right side up?

Just got my plans (hooray), but the instructions are a bit amiguous. They say build it upside down, Sharpie style, then say you could also build this upside down using frames. I built my Sharpie right-side up. I'm confused. Since the SC16 has a two-part bottom, should I build it upside down? Right-s...

SC16 Deadrise?

Does the SC16 hull have any V to it? If so, how far back does it go? It's hard to tell from the study plans -- it looks good to me, but I'd like to be able to cross 1' lake chop without getting pounded to death.

Will the SC16 slice through much under power?

Thanks!
