Painting old gelcoat stripes?

What do you guys think about painting over the burgundy stripes on my old commander with one of the LPUs sold here? The stripe running under the rub rail is gelcoat, the one above is paint. Can the LPUs be tinted to match the burgundy? Do any of you have any idea how cold it can be to apply these pa...

Re: Fule Line

Why not try just draining the filter? After my boat sits all winter sometimes I'll get the problem your describing on one of the motors, I just pull the plug on the filter, with the engine running, and drain into a bucket, I let about a cup of fuel/water run out than put the plug (mabey you dont hav...

Re: Plotter Options

I've also been thinking about a new lowrance mainly becuase I like the idea of hooking two fuel flow sensors to it, the stand alone ones are very expensinve and I have a dual station boat and would like to display all info in both locatations, easy to do with the NMEA network. Have any of you guys m...

I was looking for a 30 hp honda because it's the lightest 30hp, my two local dealers wanted over 5k, Ed's has it for $4050 (with trim and tilt, and remote).

Re: Twin engines on the P21 or C17

I agree a single engine is more efficient and I love motors like the ETEC - but a 90hp ETEC weighs 320lbs for the 20" shaft, twin Yamaha 40XWL's will weigh 335lbs and twin Tohatsu 50hp 2 strokes will weigh 336lbs. That's only 16lbs more for an extra 10hp and a twin setup, that proped correctly...

Re: FS12 (many liberties taken)

Did you think at all about putting foam in the "collar," did you think it would add too much weight, what do you think about that now that you've run it? A panga modified like this would be very interesting, I hope you build it. Also, I remember when you were first discussing building this...

Re: FS12 (many liberties taken)

Wow, that's cool! Were you thinking of a RIB when you added all that floatation up high? Does it act like one? Looks like it would be very stable sitting on the wide "sponsons" at rest but then run normally with them lifted out of the water once on plane, like a RIB. Why did you cut the lo...

Re: Twin engines on the P21 or C17

I think what most people don’t realize is that with twins once one motor quits the other is not propped correctly to plain the boat by itself. So you may as well just have a kicker. I have a 33 foot boat with twin 350hp inboards, with one shut down it will only run at idle speed. The prop will just ...

Downrigger board/railing, how should I make it?

Earlier in the year I bought a 33 foot Chris Craft Commander, the guy that I bought it from did not use it for fishing so I removed the hand rail and built a new rail (for mounting downriggers) out of white oak, it ended up about 1.5 inches thick, 11.5 feet wide and with the rails extending about fo...

Could this be a good candadate?

I've recently been eyeing up old cruisers Barnegat's (spelling?) for possible conversion to center console outboard. I know many of you will say just build one of the designs here because it would end up as a better boat; I'm not doubting that, I hope to build from scratch someday also. Remember boa...
