Re: Orca 17 Builds

man I just saw this but wanted to chime in after reading the first post....definitely put a skeg on it. I didn't in the initial build but after one time out on a lake with a slight breeze, I came home and added one the next day. The orca is light and with the pointed ends and flat sides absolutely w...

Re: Plans for download?

ahh, the old "I want to build it NOW! not next week" syndrome. lol, yeah I get that too sometimes. These days people are used to getting things they want immediately, when they have to be patient and wait a few days they lose their minds. I guess I'm old enough to appreciate sitting at a w...

Re: Anchor Weight

That's a ridiculous suggestion Boomer, everybody knows you use an old coffee can  and yeah, I second, or third, the mushroom anchor if don't want to fool with making one. It doesn't take much to hold a gf-16 sized boat on a shallow lake. I do happen to have a chunk of lead, for some reason, ab...

Re: Kayak ORCA 17 FINISHED !

You copied my duck!! j/k Kayak looks very nice! Don't worry, my kayak came in slightly heavier than yours is and I haven't noticed anything negative about it. Loading and unloading in the truck it's a little heavy, but no problem. Do you have a skeg on yours? I don't see one in the pic, so maybe you...

Re: Anyone Fishing?

Damn, I just had deja vu.... This was low tide at the launch site from my last trip out on the bay here. Lot's of Cobia tails swirling and waving at me, lot's of Red's chasing bait-fish, had the tails bit off two plastic baits, but nothing in the boat. Had a great day anyway! http://gallery.bateau2....

"...in a high speed turn, track about as well as a pancake in a well buttered pan."

Now THAT'S the kind of engineering/technical speak I can understand!

Re: CS 25 Build North Carolina

jki, don't get pissed cause of one or two people, I think the work you've done so far is amazing and am enjoying watching your progress. I don't know what peters' problem is here, as I don't remember anyone making comments like that on his build, nothing but help and encouragement from what I saw, e...

Re: Fairing the bow Dory 10 or 12

" I wanted ask if it came with a free case of beer and Redskins tickets. sheesh... " hmm...are you in the DC area? If so, I know of one place you can find okuome, but even at that depending where you are you might be better off ordering ply from here. As far as marine fir, imo, you will pa...
