Re: FS17 in Steinhatchee
Hi Dutch, I have not done anything for several months now. Got side tracked playing with black powder revolvers and rifles. Built several rifles and I enjoy that. Shooting targets with both of them as I do not hunt. Can't see killing those beautiful animals. I would rather feed them and have the gam...

Re: Flooding in Steinhatchee
Thanks for all the positive comments. Things are getting better. It finally stopped raining yesterday afternoon. Total has got to be over 30 inches at this point. The folks along the river are flooded and my friend on Cooey's island took his wife out on a kayak so she could get to her car and go to ...

Flooding in Steinhatchee
Some of you may have seen this on one of the news channels but I will tell my tale of woe. It started raining on Thursday morning and did not stop until Sunday morning. Then it starts raining again on Sunday afternoon and finally stops Sunday night. 28+ inches of rain in total. My lake to the west o...

Re: 17FS
Fantastic looking FS17. Nice and simple and light I bet. I am also very interested in what speed you are getting out of it. My FS17 will have 50 HP tohatsu 4 stroke so a little less power than yours. Also curious how long it took you to build.
Great boat. Way to go.

Re: OB19 or scaled OB21 vs GP21 vs PH22 for offshore use ?
Salty, Why not use your c17 and see how it does in your sea conditions going out to the rigs. Experience on the open ocean is something which needs to be listened to. The guys from Australia know a lot about big seas. I fished in a tournament in Tangaloma where they cancelled the tournament one day ...

Re: OB19 or scaled OB21 vs GP21 vs PH22 for offshore use ?
I think the c21 would be very good offshore. High gunnels and good hull shape to handle the seas you may encounter going off to the rigs.

Re: FS17 in Steinhatchee
Narfi, I did some research yesterday as well and decided that just because the vhf has nmea183 I do not need to use it. Too much trouble and I would imagine the display on the vhf will give me lat/long if I want it for redundancy. I like redundancy as we had it on most systems on the Boeing airplane...

Re: Narfi's FS17 - Build Thread
Narfi, I misinterpreted what all 3 corners you were talking about. I thought the corners were where the transom meets the gunnels and then the bow. If I were to try running a router with a round over bit and no bearing surface to guide the roller it would look like hell. You need an oversized bearin...

Re: Narfi's FS17 - Build Thread
Just sand them down to the approximate same shape. It will never be noticed at the end of the day. What weight glass cloth are you going to use on the gunnels?

Re: FS17 in Steinhatchee
Hi all, OQ; I did not know that about red leds. Maybe next build. I do not expect to be out after dark much if ever. I would like to try flounder gigging and shrimping at night if I can find someone to go with me. I got the wiring harness issue sorted out as I found where those two unused 5 pin plug...
