Re: FL12 - NW Trout - ***SPLASHED***
I recognize the cabins at Camas? Nice to see the update. It is pretty cool to see you are able/comfortable taking the Fl 12 off of the Camas beach, and with two crab pots to boot! I guess if you go on a glass water day and keep a reasonable distance, you'd be OK. I spend a lot of time in the Sound o...

Re: Newbie post-fiberglass questions on FL12
I am doing the same build, and it is my first boat. Others may have more experienced idears... but to answer your question... in my experience I have found that Quickfair is your friend! As far as these rough areas of glass that has bubbles in it or just isn't as smooth as you hoped, I have had plen...

Re: PrometheusNL FL12
Just a heads up... clamps can get expensive, and you will need 3x more than you think you need. You can buy 3" diameter PVC. Cut it into 2" lengths. Then cut one slice through each piece of PVC that you now have. These will act as clamps. They can be used for when you put on your rub rail....

You also need a rebreather or forced air type full face respirator along with a Tyveck type suit when spraying Sterling. It is not a nice paint to deal with when spraying. Just a reminder if you didn't know already. :D Tom What?? I know this thread is two years old, but I am about to make the jump ...

Re: FL 12 Sanding quick fair in the chines
I picked up a selection of the foam abrasive pads. They have helped a lot. I am not familiar with the "Die Grinder" tool that was mentioned, but it looks a lot like my dremel. I am now thinking that there must be some attachments that would go on my dremel that would work very well for str...

Thanks for that idea Prairie dog. I forgot about those abrasive pads. The ones that look the shape of a dish washing sponge.
I want to put some paint on this thing so bad I could spit. This has got to be the suckiest part of this wonderful process.

FL 12 Sanding quick fair in the chines
I am fairing out my FL 12. I started the Quick Fair this past week. Yeah... Quick Fair, there is nothing quick about the process, lol. A couple of questions on sanding and application of fairing material. I am quite sure that I have put the Quick Fair on much to thick. I kind of don't really care. I...
