Yes it does cut down the case as designed, but the top of the slot is still about 12 inches above the bottom panel. Even with 4 (large) adults on board, the water level is about 3 - 4 inches below the top of the open slot. Sure you get a few little splashes, but hell, it's a dinghy - you get wet any...

I've tried all sorts of sail flattening etc to solve it - not tried mast rake yet. From memory, jacques comment when I first raised the issue was the boat is designed to be sailed flat and when she heels you will get weather helm. To be honest, I don't put on a lot of rudder angle to correct it, but...

Jacques, I didn't mean the spi sets behind the forestay, simply where it launches from (the well is behind the forestay). Most production assymetric dinghies have the chute in front of the forestay for ease of launch and retrieve. Once it's up it flies fine. The trouble is as the halyard block is ab...

Yup, I built Expensive Therapy. Hmmm, where to start... Building: Definitely build something else first to get a feel for working with epoxy. I used far too much. Plan your rigging - I've spent far too long fiddling with mine and have changed massive amounts of the running rigging to simplify things...

Richstrat's boat looks like a gold-plater Thankyou! Nice that you think so... My breakdown of costs would be as follows (UK prices): Hull - to include timber, glass, epoxy, fillers and 2 pack paint - £1200 (if you build it very carefully, get your epoxy / glass ratio right and don't use any exotic ...

Hiya all, I'll have to go and measure the seats, but I can comment on comfort... The lower seat is quite comfy - less experienced sailors find it much more reassuring. I personally prefer the higher level - better visibility and it suits my longer legs - a long period of sitting on the lower level (...

Yeah, I agree, you probably don't need a frame to roll it, especially if you build it light (which I didn't) - I just couldn't bear risking scratching the paint I'd just spent 2 weeks applying, rubbing down and polishing!!!

Yup, I still check them!!! Turning over was a bit of a challenge, but I built a frame for the hull to turn it over. The procedure: first turn - i.e. from right way up (following stitching and installation of all interior components) to upside down was just manhandled - there was no high quality fini...

Maybe I can help,

My AR15 plans came in a large envelope (40 x 30 cm) and the full pack is about 4cm thick. Weight is about 300 - 400 grams, although this is all from memory.

Surely you just loop a bit of bungee over the top of the board? I would fix some small lacing eyes to either side of the daggerboard case and simply tie a length of bungee to them so the bungee sits over the top of the board, but when you want to raise it, you can pull the bungee off the top of the ...
