Re: VG23 mast

@FloatingTurtle To be perfectly honest, I lost track of the time spent building a long time ago. I certainly haven't been rushing things  @ks8 Napping?? That's what you guys with launched builds do between expeditions? There's a few more photos from the hayloft extraction here: http://ww...

Re: VG23 mast

Jean, I'm planning to sail in Lac St Louis and have been building her just outside of Lachute. You're certainly not that far away - drop me an email if you want to come out for a visit sometime: andrew @ andrewlucking.com As Steve pointed out, the VG23 finally came out of the hayloft and is now sitt...

Re: VG23 mast

I had a look at the mast earlier today. According to the seller it had been a replacement mast on a "wooden boat" - he wasn't sure of the make. I gave it a good look over, both the step and the spreader attachment were stamped with a sailboat logo and "made in Canada" but I could...

Re: VG23 mast

Thanks for the advice, Jacques and Tom. I'm hoping to get over to see the mast on Thursday or Friday. Will get back with what I dig up.

Regardless, the VG23 is launching this summer be it with this mast or another :)

VG23 mast

Hi all, I've found a use mast that a first glance looks like it might be perfect for the VG23. I'm hoping to go take a look one day this week and wonder if you have any advice as to what I should look for / questions I should ask the seller. From what he tells me the mast is 26'8" and the boom ...

Re: Andrew Lucking's VG-23

Just one of the hazards of building in a hayloft I guess :) But I'm pretty sure these damned casts can be re-purposed as deadweight anchors. Anyhow, the Doctors have assured that my sea legs will be just fine by the time the VG23 is launched. Whenever that is  Thanks to everyone who sent words...

eh, that would be great! Hope it works out for you! Keep the updates coming Andrew, when the snow melts... :) Yeah, it would be great if it comes together. Every fall I set myself a few tasks to get done during the winter and every spring I kick myself for not doing 'em. Guess what was on my list f...

Hmm, I wonder if your rigging is large enough for the VG23? It sure would save me alot of hunting around.

Would you be able to post or email some pics and dimensions, Stephen?

Thanks,
Andrew

Length: 26-3 is where the main sail head is, not the end of the mast. You need room for blocks and stuff, give it another 10". That's an offshore rig. We show two sail plans. If you want more sail area, go for the second one, the taller mast. It's more than 30'. That makes sense now. For some ...

There aren't mast diameters on my plans. I was mistaken earlier too - the plans specify a mast of >26'. Actually, looking at them I'm not certain of the real mast length. I see a marking of 26' 3" near the top of the drawing but not at the top. There is a Zspar model number on the plans that ma...
