Re: Scupper ?

If I'm not mistaken, scuppers are usually cut through the hull sides, near the transom, and are just above the sole. They have a one-way valve, and allow for the boat to be self-bailing. A flapper valve is common. Will you get minor water intrusion through them? Probably, but not enough to worry abo...

Re: Forum issues

I didn't have any problem logging on this morning, using the computer. Last weekend, using the computer, I couldn't log in. Every time I clicked "log in", the screen would return to the blank log-in page. I'd refill the name, password, etc. blanks, and try again. After multiple tries, I ga...

Re: MI12 Launch, and a rowing geometry question

Yes, I see you have a problem...you're hitting your knees before the oars clear the water. IMHO: you need to raise the oarlocks by 6 inches or so. Most rowboats I have seen don't have this problem because the gunnels are 6" or so higher than the seat height.

Re: How hard is it to pull start a 2 or 4 stroke 15-25/30 hp?

Treat yourself to an electric start. Sure you can still pull a rope, but why? More money, more maintenance, more weight, less space. Space is at a super premium in some small boats, and the space that a battery uses could be used for another tackle box, or a small cooler, or extra foot/leg room, etc.

So far sounds like an electric start is the way to go. I think you know this is what you want :!: You're just trying to justify the additional expense  I have a 15, 20, and 25. The 25 has electric start and a rope. It pulls easy and starts good when the battery is dead or missing. The 15...

Re: 28 Bertram Restoration Boat 2

Mike, Have you considered adding water misters under the hardtop? I was talking to a friend on Friday, who said he's been offshore when the sun was really bearing down. The boat had a freshwater tank with a couple of misting nozzles under the top. That water mist made a world of difference on the te...

Re: Privateer Retriever Rebuild

You're doing some really nice work there :!: RE: Drain hole: I'm old school...I like the rubber plugs with the flip lever to plug the hole, and I like it on the inside of the transom if it's easily accessible. I like to keep the plug out when I'm not using the boat so that any water can run out, and...
