After checking the prices of motors yesterday, I'm going to go with the Otter 16 and a trolling motor. But it looks like any info on the HMD will be appreciated by a few others. I came across a post that says the OD18 runs well at displacement speeds, so that might be an option.

I would definitely be open to building the HMD18 without the cabin if that is possible????

Small motor 16 - 20 ft fishing boat

I've built an FL14, and it's great, but I want something a little larger that will take a chop well without pounding. I don't want to buy a large motor and want to use a 5 hp. Would the OB18 move alright with a 5 hp motor? I don't care about going fast obviously, but I want room for 3 to 4 people to...

Glassing the bottom of the FL14

I built an FL14 last year, and it has been great so far. I fiberglassed the entire outside with 6 oz. cloth. My question is, can I also glass the topside of the bottom panel to reduce deflection whenever I hit a wake from all of these big ski boats. Please don't tell me that it's perfectly safe, not...

John, I see you are somewhat close by in Danville. I've done a pretty thorough search in VA and not found any acceptable suppliers. I refuse to buy marine fir though, I just don't see the point since it checks. I have found a place in Roanoke with marine fir. I and my brother have both forked over t...

http://gallery.bateau2.com/albums/userpics/13167/normal_boatlaunching_0024.JPG I launched my boat last weekend. I have been fishing out of it all week on vacation. This is the only picture I have I will post some more in a couple of days as soon as I get them. She handles pretty well and feels extr...

I found I saved myself a lot of time when I started with 40 grit instead of 60. I also used a 50 grit flexible grinding disc by hand folded in half for the big blobs. It will take down anything.

FB11

My brother and I were planning to build the D4 but now we are leaning towards the FB11. We already ordered the wood for the D4, two 3/8" sheets and two 1/4" sheets. I assume that this will still work for the FB11. Where do we use the 3/8" sheets in the most economical way? We would li...
