To my knowledge, there is nothing in gasoline that will hurt stainless steel. It would surely tear up engine parts as well if there was. The only problem I know of is with rubber fuel lines, etc. The hose manufacturers have pretty well come up with fuel resistant hoses though. We had a lot of proble...

Just like there are Fords & Chevys, I disagree. If I couldn't have stainless, I would want plastic. There are many Coast Guard approved plastic tanks on the market. If there was a problem with fuel leakage due to the fuel permeating the plastic, I doubt they would be approved. Also, I have a 6 g...

If you're talking about what I think you're talking about, forget it. Use what the designer recommends. These bars will cost you a small fortune and its not going to be as easy as you think. As for pot life, you can control that to a degree with a slower hardener and keeping the resin & hardener...

Wes, Why don't you emboss the HIN with one of those little tape machines, trace it with a pencil on a piece of paper and send it in. Then you can stick the tape someplace on the boat and the heck with Texas. By the way, I just finished re-doing an aluminum Flat boat I bought a year and a half...

The Wildlife & Fisheries Agent that inspected my boat applied a placard to the transom with the HIN on it. He also applied another one in a secret, almost inaccesible area so that if the boat is ever stolen and someone changes the HIN, it can still be identified. He said all of the factory boats...

I have to agree with Gary. I also moved my console forward on my OD16. My tank is under the front seat of the console. No problem getting on plane with a 60 h.p. 2 cylinder Evinrude.(not nearly as powerful as the 3 and 4 cylinder engines of approx. the same power rating). I am not comfotable running...

I also used cleats to assemble my console parts and did not tape the plywood corners. Seems to have worked O.K.

I used a paint called multi-spec made by MULTICOLOR SPECIALTIES, INC., Cicero, IL 60804-2209. I bought it at my Sherwin Williams store. It is advertised as interior, however, it holds up real well in a boat. Gasoline will affect it though. I used the arctic blue color in my OD16. They make several c...
