Re: 10 year old NC16 I want to make some mods

I have been studying the plans and have a idea. If I have this right, the side view at the bottom is the port side. The bow end is deeper then the stern side. the brackets on the bow end are a little higher then the stern end.. I am thinking about flipping them around. The ourtiggers are 10‘ and the...

Re: 10 year old NC16 I want to make some mods

Thats quite alright. You have 2 jobs with work, and 3 boys! Wow, what is the length of those? They are a bit bigger then I had been thinking about but would defiantly do the job quite well. The NC 16 is about 15 and a half feet and I believe the beam is 30 or 32“. I just bought a 4‘x8‘ trailer to mo...

Re: 10 year old NC16 I want to make some mods

Hi Barry Thanks and I sent you a PM I used 1x2s doubled, one on the inside and one on the outside for the rub rails so I think the rub rails are more then strong enough to support outriggers/stabilizers. There is always mounting them in the center where I installed the yoke. We never put seats in th...

Re: Cooler recommendations

I just thought I would share some tips with you guys on keeping ice and things cold my son and I learned this year. We went on a two week trip and took 3 coolers. Before we packed them though, we went to HD and bought a 3/4" thick pink insulation board and lined the inside of each cooler. We cu...

10 year old NC16 I want to make some mods

Hi all! I wasn't sure what forum to put this in. I can't believe it has been 10 years since my son and I built a NC16! We still use it and though it has a few scratches, its still in great shape for being 10 years old. I see there is still a couple of members that i remember helping me out. I'm not ...

single plywood sheet boat

Hi all i have 1 full sheet of 1/4 marine ply that i had left over when i built the NC16, and i was wondering if anyone has ever thought about building a little pull behind kind of boat to store things in if you were going on a week long canoe trip? or do you think it would just be best to learn how ...
