Greetings,
You have built fine canoe, and I particularly like your color scheme. Did you mention the brand of paint you used? Anyway, great job.

Re: confused about sterling paint
Thank for the replies,
I think now I'm clear on the quantities and additives I need, but I wonder if I'll need to use the Sterling primers over the S3 primer. Perhaps I should just use the Sterling finish primer? Or, will the S3 primer accept the Sterling paint well enough for a fishing boat?

confused about sterling paint
I want to paint a GF16 with Sterling paint using the roll and tip method. I am not clear on how much paint to order, or which reducer or thinner etc. The boat will have non-skid on the sole and seat-tops and foredeck. It is primed with system three yacht primer. Help please!

Re: canoe choices
Hi and Welcome, I built the Hiawatha 16" about 3 years ago and I would build another one but probably 12'. That's what I suggest, and also I would use 1/8" plywood instead of 1/4" because the canoe is so strong. It goes perfectly straight in the water (unless the wind is strong) and i...

Re: Nice Canoe or Hiwawatha 16?
I would not spend too much on plywood to build a canoe. I was able, where I live, to purchase marine plywood for about $40.00 a sheet, so I used it. If it had cost anymore than that I would have simply used the best exterior grade I could find. I have seen plenty of small canoes built with exterior ...

Re: Nice Canoe or Hiwawatha 16?
First off, Welcome, and the Hiawatha 16 is a great canoe. It can handle an immense payload (400lbs. will not come close to capacity) and it will paddle straight and fast. I mention the weight capacity because a shorter version may be a better choice if 400 lbs. is all the weight you will load it wit...

Re: Does Bateau make a boat like this?
Look`s an awful lot like the ski boats typical of the Colorado river. It is hard to be sure from the photo but if it is similar to those boats it was made for shallow water. I had an old Tahiti jet boat with a similar hull that would run 60mph or so in less than six inches of water, but in deep wate...

Re: Gf-16 question
If you search the forum using the words -GF16 center console- you will find many pages of discussion on that subject with lots of very good info and some clever ideas. I`m just about finished with a GF16 myself, but I have built it to specs so I can`t help you the mods.
