Re: FS17 low sheer

Jerms, give me a call before you start the build and order stuff. I still have some 12 oz biax and 6 oz tape as well as abotu 2- 2 1/2 gal of epoxy.

I haven't even gotten a motor for the Creek Rat yet and I'm already looking at the low sheer FS17 with a tiller!

Re: Rapchizzle's GF14 - Creek Rat (update 8-23)

She's complete! I used 3 coats of "Gripper" primer and 3 coats of tan "Concrete and Garage paint"with some antislip on the horizontal surfaces. The rod holders, cleats, seat bracket, etc went in today and I'm calling it good enough. Of course, there will always be little things I...

Re: Rapchizzle's GF14 - Creek Rat (update 7-14)

I put the first layer of Epoxy/graphite mixture on and it already had a bug in it by the time I had the first full coat on. I'm going to put two more coats on and see how the wetsanding goes. The boat will be making the trip up to Charleston in 3 weeks so I hope to have it done to the point that it'...

Re: Epoxy/graphite on the whole hull?

I've got a 3 week deadline to have the boat ready to ride back to Charleston, SC from the Keys if my buddy is going to take it home with him. I think I'll do a full Epoxy Graphite mix on the whole hull for the time being and if I feel frisky when I get home and have some time, I can paint the top si...

Epoxy/graphite on the whole hull?

What would be the downside to using a graphite/epoxy mixture on the whole outside of the hull as opposed to paint? I'm building a GF14 to use in coastal SC and will be fishing under and around docks and concrete bridges, running the boat up on to oyster bars and beaches with shells, and will general...

Re: Rapchizzle's GF14 - Creek Rat (update 5-27)

I've been pretty busy since my last posting. I've got the interior glassed and sanded and about ready for fairing this next week. I've got my hatches cut in the bow compartment and mid seat (next round of pictures...) and the drains cut and I'm close to glassing the PVC ripped in half to the deck un...

Re: The Keys Builders Bash June 8th-10th 2012

I've been too busy fishing to read this site much, get a lot of work done on my GF14, or realize that people were comign this weekend! A little fishing report from a few miles to the west, The yellowtail bite has been pretty good and we've been catching a few mangroves here and there. The dolphin ha...
