Re: V12 outboard motor
I can find a 16.5'' outboard for about $300 but then all the 20'' outboards jump to be over $1000 at least. Would it be that terrible to put a 16.5'' outboard on a 18.5'' transom? I can't seem to find any agreement about that online. I don't need to go fast, I just want something to give my arms a b...

Re: V12 outboard motor
I can see that cutting my transom down is theoretically possible, but I worked too hard perfecting that paint job to do that at this point. Looks like I'll be shopping for a longer shaft outboard then - I wish I had known this stuff when I was designing my transom a year ago

Re: V12 outboard motor
without skeg - and I'd be surprised if a V12 was anything but a nominally 15" (short shaft) motor Thanks E.G. I finally got around to measuring the transom and I got a height of 18.5'' not including the skeg. This extra distance is probably due to an aesthetic curve that I cut into the top of ...

V12 outboard motor
Hey all. I'm looking to get a 2HP for my V12 and I just wanted to get the shaft length of the motor correct. Everyone says to measure from the top of the transom to the bottom of the transom to get the shaft measurement for the motor. I was just wondering if the "bottom of the transom" inc...

Re: V12 Build
Hi, I am building a v12 also. I am about to buy the epoxy and glass kit and wondered if you got the bouyancy foam for your build. I was thinking of just using plastic bottles instead of foam, what about you? Hey Bruce, Sorry it took me a while to get back to the website, school has been busy so I a...

Re: V12 Build
That's a great tip Marshall thank you! I still have yet to get in the water here in Durham but this week my schedule should free up just a little bit so we'll see. I'm looking forward to seeing the future progress on your FS14

Re: V12 Build
Where in NC? It has a great coastline and great fishing. BTW, I detect the oncoming symptoms of BBV :P Which boat are you planning to build next :?: I just finished moving into an apartment in Durham actually! I spent last night on Jordan Lake and I was scoping it out for some nice sailing spots. I...

Re: V12 Build
It won't be nearly the problem in CT as it is in the south. Peter lives almost on the Equator and it's always summer. Very bright summer! Epoxy starts breaking down about 140 degrees (I think, + or - ) Dark colors in the sun can easily reach that and more. Must be a rough life for him  but th...

Careful now.......that's when a hobby becomes a job....which quickly becomes WORK. Looks great Scott. Hope to see you sailing soon. Bill You are quite right Bill, I guess I was just dreaming of not having to go to work each day I was building this. I should go back to petitioning congress to make t...
