FS14 Launched on 9/19
Well, almost two years after I began construction I finally launched my FS14 over the weekend and am thrilled so far. While the boat is far from finished it is very functional as is. The plan is to enjoy it for the fall and then pull it back in the shop this winter to do fairing and final rigging of...

Re: Another FS14 in NC Buildthread
I have probably put in 50hrs of work on the FS14 since my last post and am glad to say I successfully launched it on 9/19/15 over 1.5yrs after I started and its still not done. The inside while complete is not faired, just coated with a single coat of primer. I am pleased to say that the boat handle...

Re: My flanging tool came home again
What do I need to do to get my hands on this for a few days? I'm in NC and can have it right back to you. I purchased a collection of washers and screws from the hardware store but am not certain i will get good results. My email is twn8587@gmail.com

Re: Another FS14 in NC Buildthread
The hull has been faired, painted, and flipped. I want to enjoy the thing a before the end of the summer, but realistically would like to spend a lot more time building out the interior. How long will bare epoxy hold up to the sun and UV rays without any paint? My thoughts are to finish what is nece...

Re: Another FS14 in NC Buildthread
Jacques I didn't mean in relation to the boat, I understand the layup schedule is in the plans, but I am new to fiberglass and trying to learn the benefits of the biax combined with the chop strand mat, as apposed to regular biax etc. I want to know these things so I have the knowledge in the future...

Re: Another FS14 in NC Buildthread
Got the outside of the hull glassed- feels like a big milestone as this is my first attempt at glasswork. I think it turned out better than expected and I got away wit hone relief cut. I posted several updated photos to my album. Question- I would like to put an additional layer of Glass allong the ...

Re: Another FS14 in NC Buildthread
Ok, I took the summer off but am ready to get back to laminating my boat. Maybe I am going about this wrong, but if you see the pictures below would i make a single relief cut along the chine? Or a few vertical to get the glass to lay flat? What is the best method for this, I know the build inststur...

Re: Another FS14 in NC Buildthread
I have taped all the outer seams of the boat (I'll add a few pictures to the gallery). And am at the point where I am ready to lay out the glass mat. I believe it is 12oz biaxial that comes with the kit correct me if I am wrong. I am planning to overlap the keel by 3-6in on each side and run the mat...

Re: Another FS14 in NC Buildthread
The boat is already glued together, looks like I will have to fair it out. I got a tub of Micro-balloons on clearance at WM. If I mix these with epoxy what consistancy am I looking for for the fairing compound? I am going to fair it out prior to glassing.
