Painting a Transom Repair
Hey guys, I'm in the finishing stages of a transom repair on a 1974 20' Seacraft CC. The boat has never been painted and besides the transom, the gelcoat is in pretty good shape, it is White. I have been fairing the transom with QuikFair so it is a combination of that and old gelcoat on it. I don't ...

Paint Color
Hey guys, I am working on a paint project, repainting the hull of a 1974 SeaCraft, original gelcoat never had any paint on it. I am hoping to paint it a turquoise/caribbean water sort of color, but am having trouble locating that color. Does anyone know of any brands that produce one like that or so...

Re: OB19 Low Sheer
Yeah Tom I know i'm getting ahead of myself. I just read one guy say that after a certain point you can't continue building until you've got an engine, but that can't be true can it? because people change engines on boats all the time. As long as I choose 20" or 25" i should be able to bui...

Re: OB19 Low Sheer
Do I have to have an engine picked out before finishing the boat itself? I understand chase tubes are necessary to go down beforehand, but if they are generic, wide chase tubes, can I wait until the build is finished? Additionally I won't be using hydraulic steering, just a basic Teleflex manual ste...

Re: OB19 Low Sheer
I would like to add bow flare, just a bit, nothing dramatic. I understand that adding flare would potentially cause the side panels to come short of the tops of the frames as originally drawn, but that would be alright because I will be cutting them down some anyways, does that logic make sense? It ...

Re: OB19 Low Sheer
Thats a cool looking boat. Looks almost like a Panga cut down, but OD is pretty similar too.

Re: OB19 Low Sheer
Just got my plans for the OB19, woohoo! I'm going to put the strongback together soon. You guys recommend 18' for the length of it, but I can only get 16 footers. It'd be more straight and structurally sound if I have one solid beam. Should I make it 18 and just somehow connect two sections?' Neverm...

Re: OB19 Low Sheer
I'll see what I can do, the thing about the OD is that the sheer line lowers towards the center of the boat. If I were to reduce it 6" evenly it seems that may bring the freeboard pretty low in that area. I could straighten it out a bit and lower it. I'll try and post something to give you an i...
