Joe,

The webbing does not really add much in the way of non-skid. You would have to apply that first. Good Luck.

Greyfire, Thanks for the compliment! I didn't add any other coat on top of the webbing, and after two very hard fishing seasons, it has held up as well as the topcoat, or in other words, very well. My boat is stored in my garage, so it does not get sun other than when we are fishing out of it. This ...

Scott,

Do you mean to tell me that surfing the boat-building pages would not be time well spent in the office? Seriously, good luck on your new project, and I will definitely stay in touch.

God Bless,

mpacek, I actually painted the interior an off white and then applied the black webbing over the white paint. Give your interior color time to dry and then apply the web. Yes, it comes out in a random "web" pattern, but you still have to apply some guidance. Example: the paint comes out ir...

Dane, I purchased two cans and had some left over. After two hard fishing seasons, this stuff is still holding up great! Depending on how "thick" you put it on, you might want to get three cans just to be safe. You are doing a fine job on your boat, my friend. Scott, I believe that you fou...

I attached runners and not a skeg, and I used the same 1x2's. Happy Building.

What Rick said is true---fir would be better. However, I have been fishing out of my boat "hard" all spring and summer, and the rubrail has held up great. As you said, I have not run into a dock at full speed yet (I'm sure that my time will come!), but the boat has definitely endured it's ...

Mick, I completed the FL14 this January and used 1x2 pine purchased from Home Depot for my rubrails and seat braces. They were very inexpensive. I did have to pick through the pile to find some that didn't have very many knots in them. I also had to use a lot of clamps to make the boards take the be...

Louis, Hello. I finished the FL14 a few months ago, and have been fishing out of it heavily since then. I too was looking for a way to make the hatches watertight, and I believe, that without building some kind of elaborate hatch cover with drains etc., it will be almost impossible to keep all of th...

Very nice looking boat! I think that the brightwork looks very nice and adds nice contrast, but because of the upkeep required, I would just go with paint.
