Re: Mad Dog's SK14

Tom, I should have typed between C and D.

Reid suggested I wait until I float the SK14 and let i tell me where to put mount the grab bar. I took that as good advice and put in extra cleats to give me plenty of opportunities.

Re: Mad Dog's SK14

I believe the front mounts are just ahead of frame C. The back mounts are right at halfway between frame B and the transom.

Re: Mad Dog's SK14

So, I am at a point where I need to figure out where the grabrail should be placed. In the pics below I centered it halfway between the transom and the Frame B, or the midpoint of the sole. I admit, I don't know how that is going to trim out once on the water. I expect that while fishing I will tend...

Re: Mad Dog's SK14

Reid, you are correct. The eyes do deceive but a straight edge doesn't lie.

Re: Mad Dog's SK14

Thank you, Reid. I see what you mean about the sheer line. The SK14 does not have much of a curve so I should be able to cut most of it in a straight line.

Re: Mad Dog's SK14

Thank you for the input Reid. So, two gallons of foam may not be enough? With the current temperatures around here, I should get maximum expansion. Maybe that will do. If I understand correctly, two layers of 6mm ply should be enough for the rub rail? I have lots of scraps left over from the CNC kit...

Re: Mad Dog's SK14

I need some guidance before I move forward with the next steps. I am working toward gluing down the sole. In the builder's notes is says to put a single doubler in the middle section. In the CNC sheets there are two backers. I assume one of those is the doubler. Is there a plan for the second one? I...

Re: Mad Dog's SK14

Thanks Pee Wee. Now that I looked at the links, I can see they are different from the ones that worked. I'll figure out how I got the album links later today.

Re: Mad Dog's SK14

Yesterday, I finished gluing and sanding all the bottom seams in preparation for covering it with 6 oz clothe. This took up most of the day. I managed to only lose part of a batch of filler due to the heat. https://www.community.boatbuildercentral.com/gallery/albums/userpics/18403/IMG_75976 https://...

Re: Mad Dog's SK14

Progress continues a little slower than I expected but I am getting further along. So far, I have stitched the bottom and sides then glued the seams. All the stringers and frames are glued in. https://www.community.boatbuildercentral.com/gallery/albums/userpics/18403/IMG_2304.JPG Once the wood flour...
