No Dan steel tanks have never been legal in marine tanks on small boats. Must be aluminum or plastic. Tom In the 60’s clear up to the early 80’s steel portable tanks were the industry standard. I have no opinion about the legality of steel marine fuel tanks. I wouldn’t use a steel tank personally, there are much better options. As in every other available option, all of them.
