For hootchies, I've done the best with about a 6" octopus pattern. Straight pearl coloured can work good, pearl with green accents has been a good one too. This is for springs and coho. If you can get after sockeye a solid red flasher and small red hootchie is the way to go. Pinks will take jus...

Yes just front half opens. Not headed south this year. Violence in Mexico has heated up too much for me. Headed north to Kitimat B.C. for a month of Halibut, Salmon, and crabs. A month in the rainy, cold waters of the north made me think windows and wiper might be a good call. Never fished for any ...

Looking good Fonda, thanks for keeping a good detailed thread on your Panga. I'm just getting my shop organised and hoping for some warmer weather to get going on a Panga 22 myself so I've been lurking on this thread with great interest! 8) A couple questions on your strongback if you don't mind.. W...

Thanks for the feedback guys. I should have added, the schooner comes with a very small dingy. For serious sailing the dogs wouldn't be with us and I'd use the small dingy. What I was thinking here is it'd be cool to have another larger tender to tow for lazy summer day sails or even weekend trips n...

Looking For Advice on Choosing a Tender

Hi guys. Well priorities have changed and building my Panga will have to be put on the back burner for a bit. The reason? I bought a sail boat. I'll be getting it in about a week and I'm in need of a good stable tender to be towed. The sailboat btw is a 26 ft full keeled schooner, its a local ...

This issue of high and dry scuppers when a boat is at rest reminds me of a funny story of my late friend Danny. He was doing some guiding on the west coast near here some years back. Day one or so he came down to the dock after a heavy rain. Anyways he has a look at about a 17 foot skiff sitting nos...
