For a boat that size, the smallest you can get will be enough, and smaller will generally equate to longer battery life, or the need for a smaller battery. Along those lines, I have a question. My boat sits very high on the trailer, relative to the shaft of the motor. I generally tow with the motor in the all down position, and it's never in danger of touching ground. Would I be better off up with some sort of a transom saver, or down like now? It's on...

OK then, if someone was wanting to conserve as much weight as possible, is there something other then wood flour that could be used? Or is it just not a significant amount to worry about.

The only thing to add is with the trim all the way down it will give you greater visibility with the bow being lower, so if you are around other boats, at any speed, that is a better way to go.
