DE23 Transom Change

Post by Glenn »

The DE23 plans call for a 20" shaft. I would like to us a 25" shaft. Is it just a matter of cutting the transom 5" higher?

I'm a little concerned with the 20" transom in following seas and with reverse gear in chop. Do you think my concern is worth the extra cost of a extra long shaft engine?

Yes

No. The motorwell bulkhead in front of the transom is the height of the uncut transom on Jacques' designs. Water entering the motorwell will drain out without getting into the rest of the boat.
