Thanks everyone. Here are some pics from yesterday and last night.

On my wife’s car. First time in the daylight. This is a very wide and deep kayak. It wouldn’t fit in the J-racks. Had to improvise a bit.

At the event they covered a large billiards table with a board and fabric, then laid a large piece of driftwood on top, Essentially a tree trunk with its roots and we laid the boat in their like a baby in a cradle.

The Kayak was really displayed well. Thre were lots of questions all night and I was asked to give a little talk about the boat and it’s features and construction right before it was auctioned off.

The boat sold for $1850. The guy who bought it knew he got a great deal. We talked to him and his wife afterwards and it turns out we used to live in the same town together in Missouri before moving to the Georgia Coast. It was his birthday this week and he got a nice present. After the event we loaded the boat back on the car and drove it over to his house and unloaded it into their garage. He lives right on a Tidal Creek and when we set the boat in the garage next to his sea kayak, it absolutely dwarfed it. Made the other boat look skinny.

Happy that it went to a good home and will get used by him and his family.

Congratulations, what a great story. I’ve enjoyed following this from start to finish. The kayak looks great.

Great story and great work. Any chance we'll see pictures of it in the water?

I agree with Jeff :!:
No matter you built one fine looking craft. I hope the new owners enjoy it.
