During my routine oil change, I found a huge crack in one of our workboat’s transom. Upon quick inspection, I deemed it critical to replace the original wood transom. We went back with a higher grade marine ply (2 pieces of 3/4” Okoume sandwiched). This job had to be done fast, as this boat is hot seated and sees thousands of hours a year.
Hot sheet of materials/ process:
(2) West Systems 105-C Epoxy and slow hardeners
(2) sheets of Okoume 3/4”
3 layers of 12oz. Biax tabbing for fillets
3 layers of 1708 on transom
Here are some photos we snapped along the way. The boat is in the water had has performed excellently for us.

Nice! It looks like you did a good job on that one and it should last a long time. What kind of business does this boat see?

Commercial towing and salvage operations. The hull had over 10,000 hours on it!
