Yeah, that's not a hand tool "problem", that's a hand tool "solution"! Nice.

So it has been a bit but we have still been moving along. Still going back and fixing prior oppsies, there are a number of finishing problems to fix and that fix is sanding yay. I have basically sanded things till I can't feel them anymore. First two pictures are kinda the bad areas, if left alone how bad would these be? Anyway fixing and will evaluate what I plan to do with primer. Also started cutting out some templates for the decks from cardboard. Next up are mounting the bow ring, jack plate, navy lights, and rear tie downs.
Re: Chasing Tail - FS17 LS
That's the big time consumer- making it pretty. Perfect? Reasonably good? Good enough? The fish don't care? I like what Cracker Larry did to check his work, to get a hose (he worked outside) and wet it down. That made it shiny and any imperfection showed as if things had been painted with high gloss paint. I think you could do something similar with a bucket and wet rag. Ultimately you will choose a level you can accept and don't share photos of the bad spots!
You're making good progress, even if to you it may seem to be dragging at times; the fact that you are mentioning nav lights tells me that.

So they are in . Trying to get all the holes drilled in over the few days....will need to go back widen and then fill to redrill but just getting everything in place for now. I know this has been done before but I would like the deck to drain out the side of the hull not through a scupper in the transom. Is there a fitting for that or is it just a hole drilled in the side? I am really trying to keep everything in the open, nothing below a deck. Thanks Rich

I like the simplicity of a scupper/drain out the side, but I have also heard of times when it didn't work so well. One situation was that when running, the spray came in through the opening. That situation could be averted by using a clam shell cover. The other was at rest, when someone walked near the location of the opening the boat heeled and water came in wetting their feet. With relatively small boats this is going to be hard to avoid, but you could have a plug that you put in when using the boat.rbecker08 wrote: ↑Fri Feb 03, 2023 4:44 pm I know this has been done before but I would like the deck to drain out the side of the hull not through a scupper in the transom. Re: Chasing Tail - FS17 LS
I had CL OD18 for a number of years and he had 1" or 1 1/2" drains out the sides. He plugged them at sea unless he was taking water on board and when sitting on the trailer. He also built up the area where they went so there was plenty of area to drill the hole and for the plug to hold. these are one example: https://www.amazon.com/Shoreline-Marine ... =8-16&th=1 I will be honest I did not like them, here in the mountain's leaves, and pine needles blocked them to easily, I had to clean them out every week in the fall.

The way I faced quality decisions.
1. Will it bother me on launch day?
2. Would it be easy or hard to fix in 10 years?
3. Can I live with it for 10 years?

So took a few days off boat work.....at a point where I need to drill straight holes for the bow ring. Means drill press yay, so fixing up one I found poking around on Facebook. Should be back at it in a day or two
