Narfi, yours looks very nice and from the video it looks like it runs very well. I think that all said and done I should be right at or maybe a little under your weight once i have the motor(s), tank, and battery installed. I will pick it up again and re-weigh it at that time as well.

You are going to love it. I definatly overbuilt and went heavier than I should. I'd really like the time to build a light weight one some day, be a completely different focus than the first build which we are still really enjoying. (Though it's past time for me to do some work on replacing the sacrificial keel strips)
Re: Another FS17 Build Thread
So it has been a little bit since the last post. The hydraulic steering has been installed, all electronics installed along with wiring and control cables. The control cable are a real pain to install if the below deck conduit is too small and the various radiuses are a little tight. i would have gone one size larger to make it easier. The casting deck in front of the center console is almost strapped down (just have to prime and paint the tie down fixtures). Its all pretty much good to go.
The one big thing to consider is where and how to register it. In CA it is a pain, however, since it will live in NC, I registered it there. It was a simple and painless process.

California registration shouldn't be too bad. It looks like one form: BOAT101 and a single trip to the DMV should do it.

and the receipts of the materials used to build the boat should be all you need. It is about the same as a home built trailer which is super easy. My family has done a handful of home-built road legal cars in CA and even those aren't too bad once you know the system.

Re: Another FS17 Build Thread
The boat has now been relocated to Sneads Ferry NC.
I was a bit hesitant about sending it across country with the outboard installed, but it made it through just fine with no stress cracks, cracks, issues, or problems. With that I have to say that boat design is really pretty stout, it handled 99 through CA, and 40 through NM. The transom shows no signs of flex and the joints have no stress cracks at all.
When I hit New River Inlet I will post how it handles.

Re: Another FS17 Build Thread
So we launched it over the weekend. The transom scuppers are just barely above the water level. While sitting at the helm no water comes in, but when adjusting the outboard, standing at the stern a little water comes in. Not an issue. It sits level, it tracks very straight and is very responsive to to steerage. All in all the boat is good. That being said, the outboard has some issues. All i have ever done is run it at idle speed in neutral, with the occasional shift forward/reverse in a tank at low speed. After backing it out of the launch and into the ICW I gave it full throttle and it jumped forward, for about 100 ft then it appeared as if i lost one cylinder, then the second. At full throttle it stalls out, at about half I get a very rough 7 knots. but at idle, in neutral it runs very smoothly. I think that I will do the old fashion spark plug check, then the fuel check. All hoses are new, main water separator/filter is new, outboard filter is new. Maybe an internal hose is collapsing.
