Yes that 28 footer is a contender. i just have to be sensible about the size of it. It's getting very big and the towing weight is a thing to consider as the chosen boat will also be our camper on land when we are travelling away to those far away fishing destinations. It needs a big engine and I would go stern drive if it's the winner. Big engines are heavy and need big tanks. I started to do the maths and well.....
I hope the weather changes for the better for you. At least you are able to continue with fitout and furniture stuff.

I remember wanting to build the C17 way back when I was making choices. I really liked it. I ended up with the OB17 due primarily to a small work space area. It was about as big as I could go at the time. Now I have plenty of space for a big boat so build one I must. Retiring from work in about three months then it's time to make saw dust.

Now I'm leaning toward the open pilot 21 with a full floating bracket and a simple light but attractive hard top like the Novi 23 . Steering station moved back a bit more like a large side console for the electronics. Tom explained I can keep the beam in slightly less with inwhales and no protruding rubrail. 8ft 3 inch beam maximum same as NZ rules I think.

Sick, sick finish on that hull. And deck!

Props for signing up for even more!

Sideslippa take a look at the P21 instead of the OP21. Same boat only with an enclosed pilot house. You could extend the roof a little if you wanted. https://www.boatbuildercentral.com/Stud ... _STUDY.pdf Both can use your 90HP motor.

Thanks Tom. Have ordered the OP 21. Will construct a custom light pilot house.

Looking foward to the plans and making a start on it.
Thanks

Great! You can still use the P21 study plans for some ideas. And of course, your 90HP will fit on your new build.

Hey Guys. Still alive :D Currently giving the old OB17 a full repaint before I commence work on the OP21.
The OP21 start date has been delayed by a few set backs. Anyhow I am working on finishing other stuff so I can start on the frames. So keen!

Thanks Hank. It will look better than it ever did I think. This boat has been so good to me it deserves a bit of love and a reasonable paint job. High end paint jobs on special cars is what I have done for a living for a long time so it is not so hard for me.
This paint job is only a roller job tho and not top end. Good enough for a great old fishing boat I reckon.

This side of the boat is finished. Good accurate reflections and high gloss. Polyurethane two part rolled, denibbed a bit and then buffed. Denibbed from 800 grit in steps through to 3000 grit with a DA and interface pads.
