Been studying on building something for about 10 years. Finally decided on the NC16 since it should be a good replacment for my fishing kayak. We call'em pirogues down here BTW. Thought I'd share some of the progress.
One of the fill coats. Glassed the entire outside with 4oz.
My daughter getting in on some sanding of the graphite finish.
Ready for rubrails. Also planning bulkheads and decks for small dry compartments fore and aft.

Good job! What did you use for the speckled finish on the inside?

Interior was 1 part expoxy garage floor paint that I had on hand. Home depot sales the non-skid additive and the flakes for the speckled finish.

If you look at the latest thing in fishing kayaks from "Native Craft" they certainly look like piroques.
You made a boo-boo covering that beautiful plywood with that black stuff.

very nice.
I thought from the first couple pictures we were going to see a another bright fished "yacht" canoe.
Just keep that black hull out of the direct sun, or you will quickly see the print through of the fiberglass. Unless you need the hull to be black, i would highly recommend a lighter color
