I said that I would post a picture of the kayak I built for my mother when it was completed. Well, here it is!
I'm not going to go into details about it since it was a kit from another company. This was the warmup project to my FS-14 build.

Very nice Mom should be happy
One day I'd like to build one of those, they just look so good. I know my paddling days are about over though, so I'd be building it for somebody else too, but they sure look nice.

Re: FS14: jaydillyo's first build
After a very long time away from boat building, I'm ready to get at it again.
I just laid out all of the hull panels and stringers on my garage floor. The butt blocks are ready to be glued. I'm going to glue them tomorrow with gel magic and let it cure, probably until next weekend. I'm going to do the transom tomorrow as well. Hopefully next weekend I'll be ready to start assembling.
I've made up my mind that my FS14 will splash by the beginning of next summer.

Some progress. Sorry for the crappy photo.
I finally glued the panels. I have one more transom reinforcement to glue.

Re: FS14: jaydillyo's first build
So I made a rather big and embarrassing mistake while glueing pieces together. I'm documenting this so hopefully nobody else makes this mistake.
Apparently Gel Magic is very slippery and my garage floor apparently has a slight slope to it. I didn't realize I would need something to prevent my pieces from sliding. And slide they did...
I'm going to cut the stringers and make pieces for the front half and glue those with butt blocks...again.
For the transom I'm going to trim the "extra" off the top and fill the bottom in with a scrap piece. I'll fill any spaces in with some mixed wood flour so there aren't any gaps. Then I'll glue the 2nd transom reinforcement on top like normal. Good thing I have extra plywood. Let me know if you think this isn't a good plan.
I'm pretty mad at myself for this ridiculous mistake. I just hope my story helps others avoid this stupid mistake.

Re: FS14: jaydillyo's first build
Well, I cut out some new stringer tips. That was pretty straight forward. I'll glue the butt blocks for the new stringer tips tomorrow... making sure not to make the same mistake.
Tomorrow I'll also cut out a piece to fill in the missing area of transom reinforcement and glue that in. Then I'll fill in any gaps with wood flour epoxy. This will get sandwiched with the final transom reinforcement later.
I think my plan is viable and once I'm done nobody will know the difference...except for you guys.
