Changing up your hatches could always be an easy little winter weekend project. It looks good enough to fish right now!

Had a productive week.
Have some more glassing on the rub rails, Glue and tab down the console, install the cockpit drains and then on to fairing.
That means i'll be fairing in 2-3 weeks.

Installed the backing plate for the bow eye.
Cut the frames. ****Have a ?? about how they are glassed ****
Sanded and routed over the outside edge after the photo
Installed the blocking for the cockpit drains. Needs a little sanding
Will try to glass all of the above this weekend weather permitting

Fairing continues. Have my second coat on. Using a brush for the boarder around the sole and console. Only coming out 2-3 inches because I'll be coating the balance with kiwi grip. going heavy here to fill major dips and fill the weave.
The rest is getting coated with the cracker larry fairing mix and a foam roller. Resin, blended filler, rum and ground up saltine crackers for good luck.
I will need a few more coats before I switch to quick fair.
Drilled for the cockpit drains. The blocking worked nicely. Still have to cut and use the flairing tool.
Still have some light sanding to do on coat 2 and then its on to 3.

Looks good I like seeing progress made it helps me light a fire under me arse. I've been under the weather the last three days. Hoping to get at it this weekend. Seeing your work gets me back into the spirit, thanks.

Re: Gary's GF18
Spent the past few days spreading the epoxy blended filler mix to fill the weave. Think I'm going to stop messing around and move on to quick fair. At one point when glassing the frames below deck I ran out of 6" tape so I stripped up some 50" biax to finish up.
The 50" biax has a much tighter weave then the tape and I had no problems making the bends. If I had to do it again I would have used the same on some of the exposed areas inside. I think the end result would be smoother and not require as much fairing.
Any comments, tips or shortcuts would be appreciated.

Re: Gary's GF18
Your fairing mix is too thin. First coat goes on thin, next one thicker, next one thicker, creamy peanut butter. Then it should be pretty good. You are right about the tape, the 12 oz tape I've been getting lately is not nearly as tight as the 12 oz cloth, and it's a b@tch to fill.
Edit: It also looks from here like you didn't sand down the binder threads before you started fairing. Are you sanding between coats?
