ST wood gloss coating

Post by tech_support »

Earlier this week , while the EMC were passing through town, we made some samples of the EMC_ST_gloss over mahogany scrap pieces. The ST gloss is basically a thicker gloss of the normal topcoat (you use the same catalyst/reducer/accelerator as the 99 topcoat).

The ST gloss was just applied with a cheap foam brush. 4 coats were put in under 2 hours (used accelerator) :) and we used the same small batch of mixed paint for the whole thing. Best pieces were the ones where on the very first coat, we wiped on the paint with a cloth, this really sealed the wood up nicely and let the next coats go on more smooth.

This rapid build allows a complete build in one day, unless the part is going to live underwater (cant use topcoat on constant immersed surfaces anyway) I would use this to build a coating vs. building up with epoxy.

Is that the same as the clear coat you put on over paint, or a different product?
