Thanks BarraMan, Tom and Fuzz.
Yesterday we worked our way up to Big Woody Island, the start of today's exhilerating sailing some 45 nautical miles north west to Burnett Heads - see track image below.
Exhilerating because the wind forecast was for 15 to 20 knots from the south west - i.e directly across our beam as we tracked north west. And exhilerating it tured out to be.
For nearly six hours Great Sandy smoked acoss a stormy foam-capped sea under a two-reefed mainsail and a small headsail under clear blue skies.
One of the most enjoyable sails we've ever had in Great Sandy.

That’s the dream day for sailing right there.
The race captain one said “if we aren’t double reefed begging for a third, we need more wind!” Maybe I’m sick in the head but for me a good window always has higher winds. Glad you all are having fast passages.
How are the wine stores holding?

The math works out to support your description of the day as exhilarating, and I suspect it was even more fun than the math suggests!glossieblack wrote: ↑Mon May 08, 2023 5:50 am sailing some 45 nautical miles . . . for nearly six hours

Thanks Jaysen, Jeff, pee wee, and Tom. Yes yeterday was a wonderful sailing experience. We awoke this morning with the prospect of a repeat of today.
For just over half of our a 55 nautucal mile leg passaging north-west once again we enoyed great sailing with the south-west winds over our beam. Perfect like yesterday.
Then suddenly the winds dropped out, then became flukey over the stern. We ended up motor-sailing the second half of the leg.
Still one and a half superb beam-sailing days out of two aint bad.'
First image shows our 55 nautical track north-west from Burnett Heads to Pancake Creek, the second our entry into, and anchorage in, Pancake Creek.
Pancake Creek is a stunning wilderness anchorage.
