Tackle station

Post by Jwhitakeriii »

So using the cooler on the bow deemed one of my hatches useless so I decided to make a custom tackle station for either a casting platform to sit or the cooler or just stand on itself. I made it out of paulownia wood which is very light and made a cedar organizer using calcoast ammo cans and a drawer for all the soft plastics (i dont have pictures) it is designed to be retained on the boat using the same kennedy tie down system that holds the cooler for anchorage and provide two rod holders on either side of the cooler when attached. I started this over a year ago but just recently got it operational. Pictures of that to follow.

Pretty Slick! Love the look of that boat, how wide is that outwale? getting close to fabricating mine and was just debating the size.

Kids got rod building kits for christmas. That was a fun project. My wife got my a motorguide xi5 so I set about figuring the mounting situation. I quickly realized that my flushmount flip up nav light was no longer usable so that presented a challenge. Also the overhang required on this particular motor complicated things as far as the shape of the bow so I found the company shuttle slide. It allows the whole motor to slide forward and back before/after being deployed. I made a mounting plate that sits below the shuttleslide that has nav lights mounted to it. When I want to take it off the original nav light will be in play but when it is on I'm still legal/safe in the dark. The aforementioned tackle station when anchored down serves to stabilize the trolling motor when in the stowed position. That spot lock is worth its weight in gold!

Sorry, meant the rubrails, and maybe height would be a better term for the measurement than width. How far down below the deck do they stretch, looks like 5-6 inches maybe.

Went to the Gulf about a month ago. Hooked up to head out and the lights on the trailer didn't work so after a long delay of rewiring the trailer we finally got on the road and made it down there. Weather was cold and windy so limited fishing but we managed to do some good. Having the trolling motor is awesome I must say! For anyone even considering it, now having one I'd say it is a no brainer.
