Starting to fit fuel tanks into boat. Got all the pieces the first one cut. Waiting for a warm day to epoxy them in.

Be aware, to meet abyc, all openings in the tank must be accessible. I used 6" beckson screw on lids.

Has anyone ever weighed their boat using a hydraulic jack with a pressure gage. I would support the boat at three points, and take the weight at these points, sum it up to get the total.

The reason I want to do this now is to get a better idea on motor size now so I can start talking to the dealers this winter.

Won't work.

The boat must be perfectly level on her lines and then you are measuring moments, not mass. Too complex.

Best way is take it on its trailer which was weighed on a commercial scale; to a commercial scale and back out the trailer a/o truck weights.

I was able to take advantage of a 45 deg. day in February to install the door frame.

I tried to weigh my boat with weight sensors. It was a lot of work. Dry weight recorded was some number that was higher than I wanted and so was the crane weight. The problem is one of trust.

If you want a good estimate; figure all the plywood bought less unused.

Take all the epoxy weight and double it.

And any other items that went in and it is better than the makeshift weight machines.

I did it and came up with 8700 plus 600 engines; my scale was 9600, cranes were 10,200.

Boat is likely 10,200 no gas. Then I added 300-400 more with bow extensions. Not quite making her lines aft, but engines are 121# over each. So, overall pleased.

One problem I have is I don't have a trailer for it, and do not plan on purchasing one.

I like your way of estimating the weight. I am trying to get close to pick the correct motor power.

Dennis when you get the weight, we can add the other weights to her, and I can run her through my calculators to see what speed various motors will give you. Any idea what top speed you are looking for at this time? You of course will be cruising at best fuel economy.

Hi Tom,

Looking for 30 MPH tops +-. I don't think the boat is designed for much more than that.

I plan on cursing between 20 and 23 MPH.
