Made about a dozen as gifts. Go to Mudhole.com

They have everything and tutorials. Cheaper to buy one but very satisfying to make your own. A friend just gave me one he made for me. I will cherish it for ever.

He made it from a gaff blank with an awesome Afco butt that can be switched out. Had an antique 9.0 Penn that fits it perfect. 1000 yds of 100lb test braid on it.

I went through a rod building phase 20 yrs ago. My son still uses a rod I built for him when he was 14 - he is now 36.
I stopped building rods when I realised I could buy a Loomis cheaper than I could build the eqivalent.
I have a very good book on the subject - will find it and post the title.

I bought a collection of 18 offshore rods. My favorite one of them is the only one needs repair.

Think it was his favorite, too.

If you are interested in rod building, I would suggest:

The New Advanced Custom rod Building by Dale P Clemens, from Winchester Press.

I have a rod that needs one new eye. How do you tell what number/size to order?

If the line guide doesn't have a ceramic insert, measure the inside diameter of the ring in mm. eg 25mm inside diameter of ring = size 25 guide
If the line guide does have a ceramic insert, measure the outside diameter of the ceramic insert in mm. eg 16mm outside diameter of ceramic ring = size 16 guide
