Yeah sometimes just the order of zip tying it can make a difference!

Slow progress being made…about ready to fiberglass the outside hull.

Looks great Josh, nice work! Hope the glassing goes smooth, and ends up smooth!
There are only two seasons in Vermont: boating season, and boat-building season.

Nice looking bare wood hull! Texas has had a few weeks of mild weather; shouldn't we be seeing glass on that baby soon?

Re: FS14LS Build in Waco, TX
I was able to take advantage of a holiday + nice weather yesterday and glass the hull. There are a few small bubbles and I’ll have to patch up a couple of frayed edges, but all in all I’m pleased with the results. My only concern is the transom. I had too little epoxy on the fabric and ended up with some weird texture (first picture). Should I put another layer of glass on the transom, and if so do I need to sand the first one down? Great fun!

You are going to want to sand it till you have a relative smoother surface and then you can see if you need to do something else. Looks good from the pictures. The sanding goes for all the glassed areas.

But seriously, any recommendations on best sanding method? I've been using a palm sander with 60 grit to knock everything down. I have a Random orbital, and 1/3 sheet sander. I don't have a long board...any recommendations? Thanks!

I made my own long boards one flexible of 1/4" plywood and s solid oolide one of 1/2" plywood, each 3" wide. then I used a lightweight spray glue to hold the paper to the plywood. I got two large handles and screwed and glewed them to the top of the board. Make them as long as you are comfortable holding, remembering you will be pushing down on them. Tom
