UHMW is a very common material, as I'm sure you know. What do you mean by "fiber backed"?

I've seen it advertised with rubber backing.

I've used some in the past that had fiberglass embedded or melted into or somehow formed into one side of it. The raw fiber let's you bond the UHMW to whatever you want with resin.

Project I am working on now had it as wear strips and it's bonded so well that it's a fight even with chisel and hammer to get it off. I'll be replacing with aluminum strips crewed on, but I hate putting holes in stuff when bonding works so well.

So why screw? Aluminium will bond well with epoxy. Especially if you use G-Flex, and sand it into the Aluminium.

I glued straight UHMWPE to my boat. Clean, Flame treat, and G-Flex. I have details on my thread. Flame treating works.

Gotcha narfi. I've never seen that before. We use it on machinery sometimes, usually machined and screwed in place or a press fit.
