You for sure want to glass over the top edge of the transom. If you do not sooner or later you will have water get in and that will lead to problems no one needs. If it were me I would round it over and put 2-4 layers of glass on it depending on what glass was being used.

Some progress. Bow mostly done and deck installed. Finishing up scuppers and miscellaneous items in stern before I glue the back deck down. I really messed up and didn’t incorporate cup holders into the console at first but got that sorted out. 30hp tohatsu just came in so really trying to get some stuff done without rushing it too much. Can’t find too much on the search but will this hull benefit from trim tabs and/or a jackplate (non-tunnel)? I went with the 30hp due to weight. I don’t want to be able to run an inch shallower just to lose an inch of draft while poling.

I went with a 30 Suzuki for the same reason. It sits pretty level even with the fuel tank and battery in the rear. With two adults in the boat you don’t need trim tabs. Running solo it starts to bounce a little. But currently my fuel tank and full size battery are in the back. So moving weigh forward might solve the problem. I put the spring loaded tabs on mine but they drag too much so I’ve left them locked level with bottom of the hull. If you get the hydraulic tabs the would be better. But not sure if they’re really necessary.

Nice layout with your console 👍🏻

Thanks Edd. Beautiful boat. Are you running a manual jackplate or is that just a spacer?

I went with the spring loaded auto levelers. I was having a lean to the port side at speed and couldn't figure it out for the life of me. After installing and running with both down I still had a lean to the port side. Then it dawned on me. I have one of those long structure scan transducers, it was enough to change the level of the boat when running at speed. I took it off to confirm that was the problem, and it was. Now I lock the starboard one up and the port side down on the lightest setting and i'm, perfectly level.

Thanks 👍🏻

It’s the 0 to 40hp manual jack plate from Vance. I recommend them, good price and good customer service and they will have it to you in a couple days. If I could go back I’d buy a size bigger though just because it’s not quite wide enough for the top bolt holes on the Suzuki. I’ve got it clamped on the top and bolts on bottom.

Getting ready to glass top deck. Do the hatch gutters need cloth on inside channel? I don’t really want to stop the cloth at the edge of the plywood deck and not have that corner protected. I also don’t want to fight trying to force cloth into that small channel.

Your hatch gutters look identical to mine, in fact just finishing up two on my most recent build. These 2 will be my 13th and 14th hatch constructed this way. Just use a router and round over the top plywood edge and just glass enough to cover the joint between the plywood and the gutter. I've used 6 oz. woven on all of my decks, and with the ply rounded over it's no problem. I then brush or roll a few coats of epoxy into the gutters, almost pouring it in and letting it self-level in the bottom of the gutter. Prime and paint and I've had zero failures in 6 plus years. You're doing a fantastic job on the entire build.
