Can someone recommend a specific vacuum pump for use on these builds? I've never used that technique before. There seem to be a LOT of pumps available, with wide price ranges. Please help with a suggested model....

Lets' say 4x8 is the size.....The transom of the GT-23 is about 4x8. (And that will be four 12mm sheets, about 2 inches thick)...I will also be vacuum bagging 4x8 sheets of foam, sandwiching each sheet with fiberglass, for use in the cabin sides and top. ...

I use 50" wide vacuum plastic on a roll.

I built a 49" vac table with mdf. It was 34' long, is cut in half now.

Still trying to understand vacuum bagging. I've got my jig built, side and bottom panels cut and glued together, transom & bow transom parts cut. Ordered the pump fallguy recommended. and a 4x8 vaccum bag....
Next step: assemble the transom, meaning gluing 5 sheets of plywood (cut to plan) together using vacuum bagging.

So, are all of these layers--not just the vacuum bag, but the 'breather material', 'perforated film', and 'release fabric'-- necessary?

One cannot just put the epoxy/silica-wetted pieces in the vacuum bag, line them up, and turn on the vacuum pump?
