Glassed the outside, applied the first coat of fairing, and laminated one rub-rail side. Starting to think about colors now. May go with a really traditional color from the 1940’s. Need to do a little research.

Your work looks a completely clean, fast, and very nice job indeed. And you aren't perpetually short of clamps either :-) It has been no time at all and you are already talking about paint :-) Well done mate - looking forward to the rest of the build.

Thank you, Mick. This little boat is coming together fairly quickly. Laminated the other rub-rail and getting started on fairing.

All fairing work and paint now on the exterior. Should not be too bad of a job with this hull shape. Really cute boat.

Hi Fuzz. Always need more clamps! You are on your way to more sunlight soon. The little one is coming along and the exterior fairing is almost complete. A few more thin applications and she will be ready for paint. I am not looking forward to fairing the interior though. Getting closer to an easy 5 second flip.

Hi,
I follow this new build of Yours since the beginning as I have not given up on building an MI12 myself. The decision I will make when You splashed your boat and my wife allows the build of a 4th boat. I have a question regarding the bottom. Did you use 6 mm thick plywood as on the chines or the 9 mm as per plan ? On the stitched hull picture it looks to me chines and bottom are the same thickness. By the way I often think of the lovely visit in 1970 to Homosassa at the annual builders meet when we were all standing near the river and waved to You circling your plane above.
Greetings from Karl

Yes sir! We are at the point of gaining 6 minutes a day more daylight. A week makes a big difference on how long the day is. Big problem is spring fever sets in and we are still 6-8 weeks away from spring. Many times about now we get a major snow dump to remind us it is not spring yet in the north land.

Hi Karl, the hull is all 6mm plywood and the seats and bulkheads are 9mm. Finished the exterior fairing and applied an epoxy sealer coat. Primer coats are next and filling pinholes for paint. Still have yet to find a color I like but maybe next week. Fuzz, hang in there!

Rolled on a coat of white to locate all of the pinholes. Next step is to fill in the imperfections and finish painting the exterior. Still undecided on the color.
