Pedro's PG20

Post by pedroe »

Keeping my expectations low...
I will order the plywood and epoxy once I prove myself that I can build the jig. :|

Just make sure to make it level and fair and avoid hook.

Good start. You can do this
Going to need to lower those 2x uprights though.

Indeed. They are right at the stringers....

I will do my best. I made some holes in the stations that should be at the same level in reference to the sole. I will pass a string trough to check alignment.

In the photo the stations are not installed yet. They are just lying there, not leveled or aligned.

That's what I figured when I saw the bow mold sitting on the floor!

Interesting work area, do you have an opening big enough to get the boat outside? Looks like you will be in fine shape to put the hull together.

The warehouse has more than 200 years old. The opening is big enough to get the boat out, since only half door is opened in the photo. To turn the boat upside right is going to be interesting.
Today I installed the first station.

Hi Pedro

Yes it is scary but life is scary. You will love it and every day it grows and you get more hooked. My confidence has grown due to learning and great endless help from the guys. That's not saying my boat will float

One good bit of advice.... instal a fridge and fill it with beer, get a comfy chair and sit back and consider the next job !!! it will all become clear. Well the beer helps :D

Cheers

Hi les2021, indeed it looks scary. Too much sand for my truck :!: but I will try my best.

The jig is going well. Getting everything leveled was a challenge, because I started using the hose with water method. Surprisingly this method proved not to be that accurate, and I was having some issues with alignment. About 5mm error at the most. Then I got myself a laser, and happy days. I should have started with the laser from the beginning, so I removed all the stations and installed then again.

The water level can have no air bubbles or will not work.

It didn’t had any bubble. I was very careful with that.
Some marks were correct between the water hose and the laser, and others were off by 4-5mm. I have no explanation for it.

I’m sure the laser is the correct one.
