Free 9.9 hp outboard

Post by cape man »

Years ago I stopped in Greenville, South Carolina on my way home from a hunting trip in Virginia and picked up an outboard from another forum member that was cleaning out his garage. I had an idea of building a boat around it but never did... My brother and nephew ended up taking it home to south Florida for the same intent, but never did...

I now have it back and would love to find a Bateau boat builder use it on the back of their boat!

It is a 4 stroke 1988 Yamaha 9.9, high thrust, 25" shaft, electric start, tiller steering, perfect for a sailboat or other displacement hull, and maybe even a spare kicker. It did start for my nephew, but that's all I can tell you. I am located just west of Tampa. First response gets it for exactly what I paid...$0.00.

There are a couple of vg builds going . I posted on the sailboat form that I have some Andersen #10 standard winches and handles . I bought 6 new old stock winches and handles from a guy that was building an iceboat . I have $75 per winch , ma by $25 per handle in them . I will sell some to a forum builder at cost + shipping if the project is near complete .

This would be perfect for my barge build, but no plans to be in Tampa. Anybody near there driving toward Atlanta? :)

How do you get cheap shipping?

Shipping will cost more than the 8 hour drive and I'm not going to pack it.

It was free to me from another builder here. Selling it would just be wrong.
