What are y’all doing for cleaning the hull after sanding/fairing to prep for the next coat of compound?
Just blowing the area off with compressed air? Wipe down? With? Water? Acetone? Denatured alcohol(100%)?
For this question, my assumption is no blush.
Thanks.

Re: Cleaning after sanding
I typically use compressed air. After compressed air; depends on next step.
For more laminating, I use a woodshop brush and hit air a second time if it looks dirty.
Before painting, I like to follow the above with a wipedown of the paint maker's recommended solvent.
Absent advice, I used denatured alcohol, but I stopped trusting it after my fisheye nightmares and went to Epifanes Fiberglass Prep Cleaner.

For more fairing compound; blast it with 100psi air or more or clean denatured alcohol absent air.

Re: Cleaning after sanding
1. For the record, I'm stupid.
2. My method works but I assume it is wrong at some point.
Sand, water on rag, water on rag, acetone on rag, water on rag, acetone, water from hose with nozzle, drink a beer, next step.
If it's a paid job, then it is 99% likely an ester job to no water, just acetone and I have to sneak the beer.
I remind you of point #1.

I’d forgotten about your fish-eye problem. Thanks for the reminder.fallguy1000 wrote: ↑Wed May 31, 2023 9:25 am I used denatured alcohol, but I stopped trusting it after my fisheye nightmares and went to Epifanes Fiberglass Prep Cleaner.
The next coat in this case will be more fairing compound.
Thanks for the replies.
