After nearly four years of building, I am finally not only a boat-builder, but also a boat-owner. What a journey!
When I started the OB15, I thought, I could finish it in one year. But I learned a lot about chemistry and my limitations, regarding concentration after hours of work. While I started with the goal of perfection, I quickly changed to practical standards. The result: Vreni (named after my wife Verena), a sturdy and robust boat, with some rough edges, built with my hands. I love that!
It runs with a 1987 50 hp Johnson 2-stroke-engine (but I tuned it down a little). We did max speed at 50 km/h (31 mph), which is f*cking fast. It handles perfect with light waves (I did not try it in hard weather and really don't want to). Overall, I spent approx 13k € (13,7 k $) – but this includes a brand-new trailer. Also bear in mind, that here in Austria we have 20% VAT. But I wasted some money on epoxy and wood, so it could have been cheaper.
For the reality-check we booked a house at the casanova-ressort in Bibione, Italy (https://www.tripadvisor.at/Hotel_Review ... eneto.html), that has a harbor.
But the canals were much nicer
I still got some work to do with the motor, something is not quite right with the cooling valve. However, this has to wait until spring. I will post more fotos soon!

Congratulations to the successful splash of Your OB15. I think you are the second Austrian besides me who built a boat designed by Jaques Mertens and reported the splashing in the forum.

Congratulation from South Germany!
Nice boat . It took a lot of work ( I know it from somethere), but it was the effort worth.
Glückwunsch aus Süddeutschland ! Schönes Boot geworden. War zwar viel Arbeit (kenn ich ja irgendwo her) , lohnt sich aber auf jeden Fall !
Viel Spaß !
Gruß
Bernd
