Hello all,
As you may have seen my previous posting in power boats section, my FS17 was launched on 13 July. I ran it up and down the river a few times to rack up some break in hours on my Tohatsu 50 4 stroke.
The motor is very quiet and very responsive and starts up quickly. There are only 2 places on the upper river where I can open it up behind an island and away from other docks and houses. These sections are short and have one bend in them. Maybe only 400-500 feet in length. She jumps up on plane very quickly and have seen 28 mph so far with revs still in the 4000 range. I took one curve at speed and she tracked and turned great and did not slide one bit. I can't wait to give her more trials when I get her out in the gulf. Have enough hours on her now to be able to cruise and do a few runs at WOT. Will report in a couple of weeks when I am feeling better. Tested positive for covid the other day so I pulled her out of the water yesterday. Took some pictures of the river slime which shows how she sits in the water and the draft. The port side was against a dock so that is why the slime is higher on that side.
I have made plugs for the deck drains out of some scrap 1 inch core I have on hand. Will WFE them in place and refinish the outisde hull area where they were.
